Since the
end of 1995, when our nation allowed Internet business,
the two main telecom liberalization business of mobile
communication and fixed correspondent network have gradually
been launched and the establishment of domestic Internet
environment and telecom foundation have already completed.
With the gradual maturity and popularity of Internet,
wide band network has been playing an essential role
in the society of information. Till the end of November
of 2002, the number of wide band network users has reached
to 2,100,000 in our nation. Among them, there are about
1,820,000 ADSL users, 280,000 Cable Modem users and
15,700 dedicated line users. |

Because of the rapid development and diverse application
of information and communication technology, the Ministry
of Transportation and Communications has drafted the
projects of “ 6,000,000 Wide Band Network Clients”
and “ Domestic IPv6 Establishment," serving as
the essential work of the sub-project "Digital
Taiwan" of "Challenging 2008 National Development
Key Project." Besides the hope of making our
nation have the most popularity of house wideband
network in the Asia-Pacific area, we hope that we
can improve our advantageous position of concerned
industry by the promotion of the new Internet protocol
IPv6, and proceed to the new era of information internet.
To promote the construction of the
wide band is an important policy to boost our nation
into information society, and one of the key targets
of improve our nation’s capability for competition.
The government would give priority to construct electronic
environment, considering the five items “wide band
construction, ””electronic government,” “electronic
business,” electronic transportation,” and “electronic
life” governing key points. This year, the Ministry
of Transportation and Communications would continue
to revise the telecom law and related laws, reconcile
and supervise the practice of related measures, promote
the idea of share station or co-building, create the
environment good for wide band construction, assist
the dealers to solve problems on constructing wide
band network, and plan to achieve the goal of 3,000,000
wide band network clients in the end of 2003. Because
of the rapid development of telecom business and Internet,
telecom and Internet has become a necessary trend.
The dealers of telecom and network should know deeply
about the development of telecom and Internet, and
how to deal with the technology and catch the ball
before the bomb, to know the latest marketing information.

development In Taiwan, Taiwan Network Information
