FITEL actively constructs the PHS network, making it an island-wide wireless communication network with high-speed internet connections. FITEL also plans to integrate communications and internet resources, endeavor for vertical business integration, and looks toward video, multimedia and more wireless data transmission services as they continue to expand their scope of business and serve the public. FITEL’s services include:
■0948 Paging System: Motorola FLEX high speed paging system was chosen to deliver FITEL's paging service with speeds up to 6.4 Kbps. 220 base stations were used island-wide to provide diversified services, such as Numeric and Chinese Character Paging, Web Paging Plus and 24-hour Operator Assisted Paging Service.
■Utilizing the Flex system advantages, the wireless financial service is fully developed to provide real-time stock prices and important news. This service is provided in collaboration with the following partners: TelePDA - collaboration with TelePaq, Modern eBoard - collaboration with Sagatek, eNews PDA - collaboration with Besta.com.
■International Telecommunication Service: VSAT service and VoIP networks are two crucial businesses in FITEL's international telecommunication service. By constructing a single network for voice and data via IP, tremendous cost savings are achieved, and integrated voice and data service are expanded. FITEL is currently providing VSAT, VSAT Frame Relay and the leased-line communication service with transmission speed of 64kbps to 45Mbps (T3).
■PHS: FITEL introduced the PHS system to provide unlimited digital wireless communication lifestyle based on three advantages – advanced technology, super value and healthy lifestyle. In addition to voice and messaging services, several content services, such as MiMi Information, MiMi E-mail, and WiWi, are included. The Japan PHS program has continuously upgraded the PHS system’s transmission speed from 128K to 512K. The PHS speed is now approaching 3G mobile phone requirements. FITEL plans to upgrade itself accordingly, making the dream of wireless broadband life come true.
