In shaping product lines, GigaMedia launched
an ADSL connection with T1 connecting capacities
in January 2001, offering 8 dedicated IPs with
1536Kbps for downloading and 384Kbps for uploading.
This was launched as a broadband connection
solution for small and medium businesses with
NT$6,400 per month. In May, the Giga DHCP ADSL
allowed connections of 16 computers simultaneously
to take full advantages of being connected without
dialing up. In October, Giga offered an alternative
of 1.5M/64K for customers to choose from different
prices and grades. In February 2003, GigaMeda
first launched 512K bi-directional ADSL for
household users, which cost one-fourth lower
compared with other broadband connection providers.
At the moment, most of the 512K bi-directional
ADSL connections are for enterprise users with
thousands of dollars per month. For cable modems,
GigaMedia provides 6M and 512K connections as
its core products. The cable modem products,
showing a sustained growth, are promoted in
metropolitan areas through local cable TVs.
GigaMedia has always been a pioneer in broadband
connections and been contributive to popularizing
broadband connections for household users. We
offer high quality broadband services with moderate
prices. As we obtained more than 2 million customers
in ADSL household broadband connections, we
took customer requirements into reconsideration
and re-planned our product lines to cater to
the trends of the future market. In 2003, we
will introduce several product packages for
customers and develop diverse broadband specifications.
Another important goal for 2003 is to retain
our relationship with existing customers. We
had launched season/half year payment projects
providing the best prices for existing customers.
New pricing projects are also going to be launched
in favor of old customers as well as new customers.
