A. Rules on bytes for various domain names
1. Specific English Domain Names:
| (1) |
There is a total of 63 usable characters including 52
byes of English alphabets in upper case and lower case,
digits 0-9, and hyphen (-), but the first byte and the last
byte must be an alphabet or a number. |
| (2) |
Hyphen (-) cannot be the first character or last character,
and cannot show up in the third and fourth places at the
same time. |
| (3) |
Rules of length in bytes: A domain name should have at
least 2 bytes and not more than 63 bytes. |
2. Chinese Domain Name of Specific Type or Generic Type
| (1) |
In addition to Chinese characters, the 63 usable bytes
also include 52 English alphabets in upper and lower cases,
digits 0-9, and connectors 63, of which the Chinese numerals
in full font cannot be registered. |
| (2) |
The hyphen (-) should not be the first byte or the last
byte, and also cannot show up in the third and fourth places
at the same time. |
| (3) |
Rules of length in bytes: A domain name should have at
least 4 bytes (at least one Chinese character) and not more
than 14 Chinese characters or 28 bytes. |
| (4) |
The code of character registered for domain name is restricted
to Chinese Big5. |
